My Approach

I take a human-first, non-pathologizing approach

I believe in multiple ways of knowing and multiple ways of being. I approach my work with humility and commitment to keep learning as we update our scientific understanding in evidenced-based practices and leading-edge therapies, while remaining grounded in traditional ways of knowing and being. In session, you can expect a combination of talk therapy and experiential elements.

Below is a list of some guiding theories, therapies and techniques that I use in my work. Together, we will find a therapy that works for you.

This approach recognizes and celebrates biological, psychological and social differences that stem from each individual's lived experience. Here, the focus is on fostering self-acceptance and developing coping strategies that align with unique strengths and challenges.

This approach recognizes cultural and social diversity, intersectionality and lived experience. Here, the focus is systems-based and beyond the individual, with emphasis on self-advocacy and challenging structures that contribute to oppression and marginalization.

This approach explores all facets of the human experience beyond the individual's personal identity to encompass aspects of consciousness, higher states of awareness, and the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. Here, the focus is on self-discovery, personal growth, and a deeper understanding of one's life purpose, spiritual awakenings, and the integration of psychological and mystical elements in fostering well-being.

This is an evidenced-based approach that involves the use of psychedelics (i.e. psilocybin, MDMA, ketamine) in conjunction with psychotherapy. Here, the focus I provide is on harm reduction, preparation and integration after your own journey. Reach out if you want to learn more about shorter integration sessions, integration groups, accessing legal psychedelics (MDMA and psilocybin) through Canada's Special Access Program, or other general information.

This approach recognizes the influence of the unconscious and past experiences on the development of personality and human behaviour. Here, the focus is to bring hidden aspects of the psyche into conscious awareness in order to resolve inner conflicts, break unconscious patterns and develop healthier coping mechanisms.

This approach recognizes that when we are living in reactivity, overwhelm, we are often living a life in the past or future, impacting all facets of our lives that causes distress, and disharmony. Here, the focus is to bring greater awareness and intention to the present moment, without judgment, thereby cultivating a more balanced, intentional way of being.

This approach recognizes the large role that emotions play in psychological well-being. It uses mindfulness, acceptance and dialetics to build skills for increased self-awareness, managing intense emotions and enhancing communication and relationship skills. Here, the focus is on integrating acceptance and change through building these skills.

This is a mindfulness-based approach which recognizes that living in alignment with who we want to be is vital for psychological well-being. Here, the focus is on gaining clarity on personal identity and values, cultivating self-awareness and self-acceptance, and achieving a balanced life through intention and commitment to action.

This approach recognizes the mind-body connection, and the impact of physical sensations, movements, and experiences on psychological well-being. Based on polyvagal theory and how our nervous systems work, here, we explore how the body holds and expresses emotions, memories, and trauma.

This approach recognizes that the stories we tell about our lives have a powerful impact on how we make sense of our experience. Here, we explore your personal story, deconstruct and reshape new and empowering narratives that align with your personal goals, values and who you want to be.
